The Lord makes the day, and we should rejoice and be glad in the sunshine and the rain. “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD” (Psalm 150:6)! This day is today, not tomorrow or some future day, but today. Trust in His mercy now, as David did when Saul was hunting him. David’s enemies were everywhere but he kept his wits about him even when Saul tried to lure him into a trap. Despite what was going on, he had confidence that the Lord would rescue him from his enemies.
This is the day we need to allow our heart to be glad, our tongue to rejoice, and our body to be at peace. We should ask God to open our eyes that we may see the wonder of creation. When we share what we have with others and share ourselves with God, we will rejoice because it is pleasing to the soul that belongs to the Lord. Paul said: "Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all" (Philippians 2:17).
Be glad and rejoice with David and Paul. Do not fall into that deceptive reality of doom and gloom. "Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth” (Ephesians 5:9). Do not allow anyone to deceive you, children of God bring light to this world. It is given to them to shine righteousness and truth into the depths of the darkness. One blessing of our faith is turning from darkness and walking into the future as children of light. Hear these words from Scripture, the Book of Daniel: “Those who have insight will shine like the bright expanse of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever" (Daniel 12:3).
I read in Proverbs that “the path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn.” We must be wise and faithful servants who appreciate and are willing to follow the path of righteousness. We can see the sun through the clouds when we are on the right path. “Christ chose some of us to be apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers” (Ephesians 4:11). Now is the time for those who sow and those who reap to rejoice together. I appeal to you by the mercies of God that you trust His word and trust your brothers and your sisters who are following the Lord’s way and His truth.
This is a formidable day. There is no other like it. Rejoice and be glad, knowing that a momentous day is near when the Lord will come against all those who are proud and lofty, and against all that is exalted above His holy name. Walk the path of life and fill your soul with the joy and presence of the living God.
