Ann Ferguson Whalen
Ann Ferguson Whalen, 85, of Cleveland, MS, formerly of Hernando, MS and Coldwater, MS, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Ann was born on August 7, 1938, in the Greenleaf Community of Tate County, Mississippi to Horace and Lottie Scott Ferguson. She was a 1956 graduate of Coldwater High School where she was selected Miss CHS. She married John Daniel Whalen on September 20, 1957 and they made Coldwater their home. Ann enjoyed a working career as a bookkeeper and teller. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Joseph Ferguson; sister, Brenda Ferguson Berryman, and sister-in-law, Shirley Ferguson. She is survived by her son, Danny Whalen (Tammy) of Cleveland, MS; grandsons, Adam Whalen (Sara) of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Whalen (Emily) of Cleveland, MS, and Ben Whalen of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Molly Cate Whalen and Thomas Whalen; 7 nieces, and 2 nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or First Baptist Church Coldwater. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers of Indywood Assisted Living and Bolivar Medical Center Long Term Care in Cleveland, MS. Services were held Friday, December 8, 2023 at First Baptist Church Coldwater. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
