An accident involving an 18-wheeler stalled traffic on Interstate 55 in Tate County for over an hour Wednesday, June 22.
Sgt. Marvin Baird, Public Affairs Officer for Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop E in Batesville, said a 2014 Peterbilt driven by Kelvin Ashe, 57, of Poplarville, was traveling north on I-55 at approximately 5:17 p.m., when his tractor-trailer left the highway near mile marker 262.
Northbound lanes of I-55 were backed up to the Como exit as troopers from MHP and local first responders worked to clear the wreckage area.
Baird said Ashe was not injured and released at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
