Magnolia Heights' Garrin Windham breaks loose for a long run against Strayhorn.

   The Magnolia Heights Football Chiefs defeated the Strayhorn Mustangs 42-6, Friday, August 31 at Cahill Field.
   Starters for the Chiefs on offense were Hunter Jones at Tight End, Cliff Young at Split, Vance Van Every and Sides McLeod at Tackles, John Reese Stafford and Grant Borgononi at Guards, Eli Johnson at Center, Blake Kirby at Quarterback, Garrin Windham at Tailback, Garrett Chance at Wingback and Ford Wilson at Fullback. On defense the starters were: Brock Boatner and Zack Bishop at Ends, Van Every and Sam Suggs at Tackles, Jared McKie at Noseguard, Gage Woods and Wilson at Linebackers, Hunter Burke and Asa Moore at Cornerbacks, Chance at Strong Safety and Young at Free Safety. Also seeing action were: Ash Pepper, Gavin McArthur, Reese Province, Peyton Miller, Taylor Johnston, Gavin Woods, Walker Gatewood, Blake Dunlap, Blaine Marshall, Tanner Hudson, Alex Bailey, Hunter Pugh, Tyer Free, Nathan Hall, John Tyson, Ben Hinton, Jay Potts and Jack Durdin.
   The Mustangs received the opening kickoff and drove for a score that came on a 1 yard run by Carter Freeman with 7:28 left. The kick failed, and the score remained 6-0.
   The ensuing kickoff went into the end zone, and the Chiefs had possession on the MH 30. WIth Windham running the ball and Kirby passing to Wilson, the Chiefs drove to the 1. Windham then ran up the middle for a score with 5:26 left. Tyson kicked the extra point for a lead of 7-6.
   The Chiefs kicked off, held, forced a punt and got possession on the S 47. With Windham  running the ball, the Chiefs drove to the 8. Windham then ran up the middle for a score with 35.0 left. Tyson converted to increase the lead to 14-6.
   The Chiefs kicked, held, forced a punt and got possession on the MH 28. Kirby fired a pass to Jones for a score with 8:59 left. Tyson converted for a lead of 21-6.
   Later in the quarter, the Chiefs scored on a 55 yard pass from Kirby to Jones with 2:07 left. Tyson converted for a lead of 35-6.
   Jones returned the opening kickoff from the 13 to the MH 32. With Gage Woods and McArthur doing the running, the Chiefs drove to the 10. McArthur then ran for a score with :34 left. Tyson converted.
   The Chiefs defeated a fighting Mustang Team.
   The Chiefs are now 2-1. Friday, September 7, the Chiefs will play Northpoint Christian on Cahill Field beginning at 7 p.m. The Chiefs must play outstanding ball in order to win.
