Two Senatobia High School students have come in first place in a national contest, earning money for themselves, as well as their school.
Kechantra Ward and Jeffery Patton took the first place spot in Duck Brand’s Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest.
Ward designed a duct tape skirt and top for herself and a tux for her date to wear to their senior prom, using 28 rolls of tape and spending a total of 102 hours on the creations.
Out of 150 entries, the duo eventually moved into the top 10 group of competitors. It was then up to online voters to determine the winner during the voting period that began on June 10 and lasted through July 8.
Each will now receive a $10,000 scholarship, and Senatobia High School will receive $5,000.
