David M. Gibson
David M. Gibson, 68, passed away on April 15, 2014 at his residence in Senatobia. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at Pate-Jones Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Gibson, of Senatobia; daughter, Linda Lawrence of Kansas City, Mo.; son, David Hutcheson of Olive Branch; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Army.
Maude Louise Spencer Green
Maude Louise Spencer Green, 77, of Sarah, Miss., passed away on April 14, 2014 at Grenada Living Center in Grenada, Miss. Services were held on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Truslow Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, James Green, Jr. of Ruleville, Miss.; granddaughters, Mary Thompson and Melissa Hulvey both of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Toyce Spencer, James Arthur Spencer, Lonnie Spencer, all of Cascilla, Miss., and Michael Spencer of Calhoun City, Miss.; sisters, Virginia Tudors of Gore Springs, Miss., Marcy Ray and Carolyn Bingham, both of Phenix City, Ala., and Stella Mann of Senatobia.
Mary Belle Powell
Mary Belle Powell, of Stockbridge, Ga., formerly of Senatobia, Miss., was born on July 28, 1919 and passed on away April 12, 2014. Services were held Saturday, April 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Miriam V. Fulcher, and son-in-law, Walter Fulcher, of Stockbridge, Ga.; son, John Sanford Powell, and daughter-in-law, Gerri Powell, of Houston, Texas; sister, Maxine Henley, of Senatobia; grandchildren, John S. Powell, III (Stacia), of Houston, Texas, Miriam Massie (Patrick) of Houston, Texas; great grandchildren, Angelica, Olivia, Gabriel, and Isabella Massie, and Samantha Powell, of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Forbes, Nanerl Parsons, Victor Barber, and Peggy Jean Calvert.
Laverne Ramsey, 56, passed away on April 11, 2014 at Methodist Central Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn. Services were held on Saturday, April 19, at Independent-Tyro M.B. Church at 12 noon. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Laverne Wooten, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; daughters, Angela Wooten and Latoya Wooten, both of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, Bobby J. Ramsey of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Stellar Jackson of Senatobia, Classie Wilbourn of Independence, Bernestine Rodriquez of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Bill Sowell, 67, retired Linesman for BellSouth, of Greenleaf, Miss., passed away on April 7, 2014 at his home. A private family graveside service was held on April 11 at Palestine Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Sowell of Greenleaf; daughter, Dawn Carpenter (Robert) of Senatobia; son, Brandon Sowell of Coldwater; stepson, Rhett Kramer of Germantown, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Brandi Robinson of Coldwater; three brothers, Kenneth Sowell of Alabama, Dennis Ray Sowell of Coldwater, and Johnny Sowell of Meridian; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home of Hernando had charge of the arrangements.
